In a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, November 19, Monroe College opened MO Café, an exciting new Internet café. Located on college's Bronx campus in Jerome Hall, MO Café is a high-tech facility outfitted with 2004 Sony computers with plasma screens, tasty refreshments provided by Monroe's culinary students, mood lighting, and high-fidelity sound system. "Monroe students are going to love MO Café," said Director of Marketing Evan Jerome, who designed the space. "They'll be able to grab a bite, surf the web, talk to friends, and relax between classes. Very quickly it's going to become a real important place on the Bronx campus."MO Café is designed to give Monroe College students a comfortable space to socialize within the context of the school's distinctly urban campus setting. In addition, Monroe students will have integral roles in the daily operation of MO Café. Hospitality Management and the Culinary Arts majors will work as hosts and food servers and preparers, at the same time earning college credits through the internship program. In fact, under the direction of Associate Dean Carol Genese and Professor Maurice Greene, those students came up with the name MO Café and have played an important part in the development of the food menu. It's expected that MO Café will quickly become a "happening" place on Monroe's Bronx campus and Monroe students are sure to spend mo' time at MO Café! |
