Monroe College SIFE Team Raises Money For "Katrina House"

Members of the 2005 National Championship Monroe College SIFE Team raised more than $650 at their "Have Katrina for Breakfast" fundraiser at the New Rochelle Train Station, on Thursday, September 29th. Volunteer students sold muffins and coffee to commuters and collected donations, all of which will be used towards the building of "Katrina House" in Yonkers, a project of Habitat for Humanity. It will be home to a family moving back to New York from New Orleans, according to James Killoran, executive director, Habitat for Humanity of Westchester.

"This fundraiser is also being held in honor of our fellow SIFE chapters in Louisiana who have temporarily been put out of business on account of Katrina," noted Ayanna Henry, co-president of the Monroe College SIFE chapter, New Rochelle campus.
