Monroe Launches Continuning Education Program

In an effort to broaden educational choice for adults, Monroe College has launched a Continuing Education program. Monroe Continuing Ed courses are designed to help students meet certification requirements or as refresher courses to expand or clarify working knowledge for professionals. All of the courses are accredited and presented by nationally recognized and credentialed faculty.

Allied Health Sciences Assistant Dean Jerry Kostroff (far left) and continuing Education Director Gary Albert (back row) award certificates to Debrah Lall, Shadae Campbell, Lucille Valle, and Sandra Urias upon completion of the Monroe College CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Continuing Education course.

“Just as with Monroe degree programs, our Continuing Education classes are career-oriented, emphasizing individual student learning and personalized attention,” said Continuing Education Director Gary Albert. “Also, they’ll be taught according to class schedules that are tailor-made for working adults – convenient and flexible.” Along with prep courses for the FDNY written exam, which will debut this fall, there are many health-related course offerings, including, Health Information Management, Introduction to Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to ICD-9-CM Medical, Introduction to CPT Medical, Medical Insurance and Billing, Certified Nursing Assistant, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Exam Review, and Infection Control. More offerings are planned for the near future.

“As they re-enter the work force and find new ways to make a living, even college graduates are making the most of Continuing Ed at Monroe,” Professor Albert said.
