Monroe students give food and clothing to the needy

Before Thanksgiving, members of a Monroe College Environmental Class led by Professor Patricia Edwards, collected food and clothing at the college to give away to people in need.

Then the students went to 125th Street and Washington Square Park to give away the goods they had bagged and stored in four large plastic tubs. Some of the people they met made requests, asking specifically for coats or food. Afterwards, the students were struck by the unabashed need on the streets and were discussing ways they could help further.
