Monroe College, which has had a strong presence in the Fordham Road area for more than 70 years, has opened a new information center at 17 E. Fordham Road, west of Jerome Avenue. Staffed by current Monroe students in addition to staff members, the center is designed to make it easier for community members to learn about opportunities in higher education. “Many people who want to attend college don’t realize how easy it is to get started,” said Director of Admissions Evan Jerome. “With our new Fordham Road Information Center, getting your questions answered is as convenient as can be. Also, people like to have down-to-earth conversations about the reality of college life with students.” “We really enjoying meeting with prospective Monroe students,” said Elizabeth Reyes, a Business Management Major. “There’s an immediate level of trust we can establish with them and at the same time we can be informative and enthusiastic about the opportunities a Monroe education can bring.” Along with Ms. Reyes, Eunice Gomez a Hospitality Major, Saifur Rahman an Accounting Major, and Xavier Caballero an Accounting Major greet people everyday at the center. Seth Goodman, Monroe’s Director of High School Programs, also works out of the Information Center. The Monroe College Information Center on Fordham road is open Monday-Thursday 10am-7pm, Friday 10am-2pm, and Saturday and Sunday 11am-5pm. |
