But, for the first time since the 2005 NJCAA finals on March 19, 2005, the Monroe College Lady Mustangs lost a basketball game. Beaten on Thursday, December 28 by Florida Community College of Jacksonville (Division I), 64-62, in a game played at the Palm Beach Holiday classic, the Lady Mustangs saw their record-setting 47-game winning streak come to an end. It was the longest active streak of any team in any division, men or women. "You never like to lose, much less have such a great run ended," reasoned Coach Seth Goodman after the game. "But, we're realists. Our goal is to win the national championship and that is still very much a possibility."
Last year Monroe was undefeated (36-0) NJCAA, Division III National Champions. |
