L-R Emanuel Vilsaint; Deidre Rief, owner of the Corner Scone; Samuel Jones; and Lee Randin On Saturday, October 14 Monroe College students completed the installation of wireless Internet service in the Corner Scone, a new café on Webster Avenue and 236th Street in the Bronx. This is part of an on-going project by Professor John McMullen’s Monroe College Wireless Technology class to install wireless Internet technology in parks and businesses. The service is free to the businesses and to the general public. Monroe’s Wi-Fi project is supported by NYCwireless, a non-profit organization that advocates and enables the growth of free, public wireless Internet access, which not only has provided free hardware, but also encouragement and technical support where needed. |
