Famed Chef To Host Benefit

The Monroe College School of Hospitality Management and the Culinary Arts is delighted to announce that famed Molyvos executive chef Jim Botsacos has agreed to chair the second annual Craig Rutman Memorial Scholarship Fund Dinner to be held Monday, July 23rd in the state-of-the-art Culinary Arts Center on the college’s New Rochelle Campus at 434 Main Street.

Chef Botsacos is perhaps the most accomplished creator of fine Greek cuisine in New York and beyond. Shortly after opening in May of 1997, The New York Times awarded Molyvos three stars. Esquire magazine named Molyvos among the "Best in America" and New York magazine included Molyvos in its "Best of 1999” list of New York restaurants.   In 2004 he opened Abbocato, a highly-regarded Italian Restaurant in Manhattan.

“We’re thrilled that Chef Botsacos has accepted our invitation to chair what is going to be a magnificent evening,” said Dean Carol Genese, who created the event to not only honor the memory of Craig Rutman, the first Director of the Monroe Culinary Program, but also to help build the fund that was established to continue his legacy and passion for culinary students.

As in last year’s event, which raised more than $20,000, the public will be invited to the dinner that will feature a sumptuous, one-of-a-kind grazing cocktail reception of signature dishes prepared by some of New York’s finest chefs as well as Monroe Culinary Arts students.
