CenStar Energy and Monroe College

New Rochelle, NY (June 15, 2012) – CenStar Energy, a leading retail energy supplier to commercial, industrial and residential properties and businesses, announced today the launch of its Student Leadership Initiative with Monroe College to further the goal of building strong leaders.

As part of the Student Leadership Initiative students assist with market research, report on energy issues facing businesses and homeowners, deploy sales campaigns and launch social media programs. The goal of the program is to help future leaders cultivate a greater knowledge and understanding of the business world. “The experience is unlike any other college work program in Westchester,” commented Gillan Scott, a senior at Monroe College.

“We are very excited about the opportunity CenStar Energy is affording our students,” said Professor Max Torres, Deputy Chair, Accounting and Finance Department. “CenStar Energy’s Student Leadership Initiative provides the perfect synthesis of focused education and hands-on business experience.”

CenStar Energy currently supplies electricity and natural gas to Monroe College’s Bronx and Westchester campuses. In addition, through the new Energy Savings Affinity Program, Monroe alumni, faculty and administration can benefit from greater savings on electric and gas bills when enrolling through the college. CenStar’s track record as a company with strong community ties and innovative pricing plans makes it an attractive candidate for property and building owners.

Perry Garber, President of CenStar Energy, commented on the Student Leadership Initiative and on the company’s new relationship with Monroe College: “We are very pleased to welcome our student apprentices who have joined us this summer. This program is a great opportunity for CenStar to give back to the community by helping students gain valuable work experience. We are honored to add Monroe College to our growing portfolio of clients and are excited to extend our energy savings offering to staff and alumni of the school.”
