Francisco Escobar, a junior at Monroe College and national pole vault competitor, has won the Mr. World contest, and now holds the title of “The World’s Most Desirable Man.”
Escobar, 21, representing his native country of Colombia, beat out 47 other competitors at the two-week competition in Kent, England.
“I didn’t expect it,” Escobar said, adding that the other final contenders “were very good-looking and competitive, and they spoke very good English. I thought they had an advantage over me.”
But Escobar, a business administration student who plans to go into finance and open his own Manhattan restaurant one day, impressed the judges with his athletic prowess and “warm and heartfelt answers to questions.”
A pole vaulter for the Monroe Mustangs track and field team, he scored second overall in the Mr. World sports competition. He was also among the top five finishers in a multimedia challenge, where the men produced reports about historic Canterbury and posted them to facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Read more... |
