Governor appoints Professor

Monroe College is proud to announce that Governor Andrew Cuomo has appointed Justice Darcel Clark, an adjunct professor in the School of Criminal Justice since 2010, to the Appellate Division, First Department, the second highest court in New York State.

“We’re very proud of Justice Clark; this is an honor she richly deserves,” said Dean of the School of Criminal Justice Michele Rodney.  “She’s a perfect example of what Monroe’s ‘real world’ education is all about.  What a great benefit to our students to be able to learn from one of the leading legal minds in the State.”

Justice Clark’s impressive career began in 1986, when she worked at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. She embarked on her judicial career as a Judge of the Criminal Court of the City of New York in 1999 and, in 2004, was designated an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court.

In addition to the above achievements and her role as an adjunct professor at Monroe College, Justice Clark is President Elect of the New York State Chapter of the National Association of Women Judges; Past President and Chair of the Black Bar Association of Bronx County; and a member of the Board of Trustees at Boston College.
