There are few things more important to college students than food and sports. In the new Mustang Café, Monroe students can have both. The College has transformed a room in the Monroe Athletic Center – or, what the Monroe community calls the ‘MAC’ -- with spectacular views of the main basketball court into a gorgeous ‘Mustang Café’ to be used for daily meals by Monroe students. With comfortable seating for 170, the 4,500 square-foot room has custom-designed lighting, an attractive bamboo mural, a half dozen HD TV’s, and some wonderful accommodations for expanded menu items and delicious dining by Monroe students.
No student will go hungry with the new Café menu. The serving line has been outfitted with induction cook tops for stir-fries, pastas, and rice dishes. There’s a carvery for prime rib, pork loin, fresh ham and turkey. A large chilled salad bar and sandwich and deli counter complete with a Panini machine round out the culinary choices.
For desserts, Monroe students can enjoy ice cream, but wholesome snacks like nuts and power bars are also available for the health-conscious.
Because the College is always improving, the previous cafeteria is now being transformed into a Baking and Pastry Lab for the School of Hospitality and the Culinary Arts. We’ll have more on that next month! |
