In what was one of the most dominating performances of a season, the #18 Monroe College women's volleyball made good on the promise of a 35-5 season by winning the NJCAA Division II District L championship Sunday afternoon shutting out CCRI 25-16, 25-9, 25-14. Monroe opened their season back in August with an outstanding performance at the Niagara CC tournament winning their first five matches of the season to capture the NCC tournament title, but even more impressive has been their play as of late as they've swept the last eleven matches, winning 33 straight sets in the process. Monroe's title-clinching victory over CCRI marked the Mustangs 23rd consecutive victory (second longest winning streak in Monroe volleyball history - 26, 2011). Read more |
