St. Lucia National Carnival Queen

The winner of this year’s St. Lucia National Carnival Queen Show will receive a scholarship to attend Monroe College.  Ms. Janelle Desir, who was crowned National Carnival Queen on Saturday, July 7, 2012, will join past winners, Ms. Louise Victor and Ms. Iva Satney, in accessing a quality higher education at Monroe College, St. Lucia Campus, in order to fulfill their dreams.  The scholarship awarded to Ms. Desir will assist towards her completing her bachelor’s degree.  In addition to providing scholarships to the National Carnival Queen Committee, Monroe provides awards to various local organizations, including the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association, which is the leading membership group for organizations and leaders in St. Lucia's hospitality sector.  This year the Government of Saint Lucia will receive 24 scholarships from Monroe College.  St. Lucian students may access these scholarships through the Training Division of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labor.  The cost of all scholarships provided by Monroe College over the past five years is close to half million dollars.  The St. Lucia Campus was opened in 2007.
