With an invitation to employees to “come take charge of your health and wellness,” Monroe College hosted its second annual Health and Wellness Fair on December 12. The fair offered services and information to help employees to learn about, evaluate and improve on their current health.
Acting as a one-stop-shop for all things health related, the fair offered everything from chair massages to glucose screenings to financial wellness planning. There was a hand paraffin treatment, which left your hands feeling soft – and your whole body relaxed. A station with a black light-type mirror and a diagram provided a skin damage screening, and 5-Hour Energy handed out samples with a kick.
“We wanted to provide our employees with the resources to become the healthiest version of themselves,” explained Human Resources Director Carol Ickowitz. “Some people don’t know what their glucose level or body mass index is and so they aren’t able to improve on it. Hopefully, after attending today’s fair, someone who previously was without this knowledge now has it, and they can start taking steps to live a healthier lifestyle.
Upon entering the fair, guests were given a card to hand to each vendor so the vendor could check off their visit. At the end, the cards were entered into a raffle. Six lucky winners won a prize, including an Oral B Professional Care rechargeable toothbrush, a certificate for dinner and a movie, a certificate for one nutrition consultation, two certificates for chiropractic consultation and treatment, and a 30-day membership to New York Sports Club. |
