Freshman Day: an Inspiration!
Inspired by the words of President Stephen Jerome and other Monroe administrators, more than 700 freshmen filled the King Hall gym in two separate sessions on September 4 to launch their college careers.
Making a number of salient points about the crucial role higher education can play in a person's life, President Jerome urged freshman to sieze the opportunity before them.
"If you're sitting next to someone in class who is not doing the right thing," he advised, "change your seat! Get to know your professors; they can help you get where you want to be."
President Jerome also talked about choices in his own past and how those relate directly to decisions Monroe freshmen will be making.
Other presentations were made by Vice Presidents Roberta Greenberg and Stephen Waldow, OCA Dean Carol Genese, and Director of Public Relations Gary Axelbank.
Vice President Greenberg played the 2008 Graduation highlight film as motivation for the freshman. "Visualize yourself in a video like this on your graduation day," she said. "On Thursday, June 3, 2010, we'll be taking pictures and video of YOU!"
Good luck Monroe College freshman!
