Senator Schumer Inspires Grads at Commencement!

On Friday, June 11 New York Senator Charles Schumer was a surprise guest at two of the 2010 Monroe College Commencement Ceremonies held at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Urging the students to pursue their dreams with his signature call to “go for it!”, Senator Schumer delighted the graduates and their families with information about tax credits for college tuitions and anecdotes about his own path to success.

Other keynote speakers for the more than 2,800 Monroe graduates were Wall Street executive, author, and public speaker Dr. Westina Matthews, NYC Comptroller John Liu, and CNBC Senior Energy and Personal Finance correspondent Sharon Epperson.

“We were honored to have Senator Schumer address our graduates along with our other inspirational keynote speakers,” said Monroe College President Stephen Jerome.  “But the real stars of the day were our graduates as they exemplified the best of Monroe College.”
