After maybe the greatest regular season win in Monroe history, the Mustangs and Lady Mustangs basketball teams are gearing up for the post season.  The Region XV Tournament begins Saturday, February 27 at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY.

Those who saw Saturday’s Monroe Mustangs 88-82 win over Harcum College, the nation’s #1 and previously undefeated team, won’t soon forget what they saw.  It was a stirring performance by a Monroe team that was determined to win, despite the fact that both starting guards were unable to play.

The 22-7 Mustangs hope to cash in on the momentum they generated as they take on either TCI or Westchester CC as the number one seed in the Region XV tournament at 7:00pm on Saturday.

Region XV Tournament

The 21-5 Lady Mustangs, also the #1 seed in their DII tournament, will be trying to win their 7^th consecutive Region championship.  They’ll open tournament play at 5:00pm against Dean College.  In their first year of DII play, the Lady Mustangs, who comprised mostly of freshman, are in a newly-comprised competition with Orange CC, CCRI, and Dean College.  They, too, are anxious to continue the championship legacy that has defined Monroe women’s basketball over the last decade.
