Chock full of burgeoning opportunities for student success, the School of Allied Health Professions has never been healthier.  On the heels of the September launch of what is now a successful Bachelor's degree program in Public Health, Allied Health Professions has expanded its nursing program, provides higher education to DC37 and Mt. Sinai Hospital employees, as well as graduates hundreds of medical assisting, health services administration, and medical administration students each year.

"Things are going well," said Dean Jerry Kostroff one morning in his West Hall office.  "Step-by-step we have developed the programs so that they're not only providing the students with the tools they need to succeed, but we're supporting the industry with qualified personnel and access to higher education."

Through the past winter, all the graduates of the college's first-ever LPN program who took the LPN test passed it.  That 100% success rate, Dean Kostroff says, is truly something to be proud of.  In addition, given the chronic shortage of nurses, these Monroe students each have numerous job offers waiting for them.

Also, beginning with the spring semester, Monroe Nursing will be adding an RN program.  It's expected that graduates of the LPN program as well as new applicants will comprise the first RN class.  For more information, visit the Allied Health office in West Hall.

As they got "pinned" at a festive ceremony in December, the first students to complete the LPN Program were recognized by guest speaker Karen Davenport, the head of the NY State Department of Health's Nursing Division who acknowledged the excellence of the Monroe program and the unyielding motivation of the students to succeed.
