Students in the Medical Assisting program will find an expanding profession. New York State Department of Labor’s occupational projections reveal a 53.3% increase in the number of medical assistants that will be required between 2000-2010.

Medical Assistants perform a variety of patient care activities under the jurisdiction of the physician, such as preparing the treatment rooms for patient examination, interviewing patients, recording patient vital signs, scheduling patient appointments, sterilizes instruments, and positions instruments and equipment.
