This program is designed for high school graduates. It is a self-contained program that requires extensive commitment of time and effort. Students are not able to hold full-time jobs while enrolled as this rigorous one year program is very time intensive.

- High School Diploma or GED
- Student must be at least 17 years old
Step by Step Process
First Step: Visit Monroe College’s Admissions department to sign up for the Nursing Information Session and attend an in-person interview. Call 1800.855.MONROE for more information.
Second Step: Complete the online admissions application form, write an admissions essay and pay the application fee of $35.
Third Step: Satisfactory completion of the English placement examination. Students must place into college credit English.
Fourth Step: Students must register and pay ($100) for the National League for Nursing(NLN) and the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Pre-Nursing exams with cash or money order. Only candidates who are pre-registered are eligible to take the test. Students must register for these exams in person at the Nursing office.
- The National League for Nursing Examination must be passed with a score of 60% or better.
- The Assessment Technologies Incorporated Examination must be passed with a score of 70% with subset not less than 45%.
- Tests may be repeated after one year.
Fifth Step: An interview with the head of the nursing program and faculty is required for students who have been successful at the above exams.
Sixth Step: Meet with a Financial Aid Councilor to receive a financial estimate for the program. |
