Bachelor (B.B.A.) Degree program in Public Accounting

The Public Accounting program reflects the Monroe commitment to prepare students for lifetime careers. While the program includes many of the core courses found in General Accounting, Public Accounting has been designed to fulfill the requirements for students who wish to take the CPA exam.

Within the 150 semester-hour program, Public Accounting includes a number of Liberal Arts courses not found in General Accounting.

Marketability

The Bachelor's Degree in Accounting provides students with a core of accounting courses in preparation for a career in corporate accounting and for continued study towards the C.P.A. and an M.B.A. degree. In addition, the program helps students develop talents and interests through a wide selection of elective courses. Students are required to take courses in mathematics and business, as well as comprehensive liberal arts courses, which will provide them with perspectives into the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.

Career Opportunities

Accountants and Auditors help to ensure that firms are run efficiently, their public records are kept accurately, and their taxes paid properly and on time. Accountants provide many business and accounting services including public management and government accounting, as well as internal auditing, to their clients.

Specific job duties varyamong themajor fields of accounting: public, management,government accounting, and internal auditing.
