A CPA is an accountant but not every accountant is a CPA. The CPA, Certified Public Accountant, is licensed by the state to provide accounting, taxation, and financial consulting services to government agencies, individuals, and corporations in the public and private sectors. Public accountants largely work as third-party advisors to a company whereas private accountants are often employed directly with a firm. The Monroe College Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting program helps students tap into their entrepreneurial spirit in order to thrive in a specialized, challenging career.
Students enrolled in the Public Accounting Bachelor’s Degree Program learn from our experienced faculty of CPAs, government accountants, and licensed auditors. Classroom instruction focuses on critical thinking, advanced technological learning, and accounting theory. Monroe business leaders share their real-world experiences, which students later apply to real-world internships at Wall Street firms, tax offices, and government agencies.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting from Monroe College prepares graduates for career success in business and finance. Students can also elect to pursue a Master’s Degree. Career opportunities in public accounting include:
