Accounting & Finance

Accounting is the basis for business decisions. Modern business depends on the ready availability of financial information and analysis. Monroe’s Accounting program prepares you to provide such information utilizing both manual and computerized systems. This program will provide you with a strong background in each of the major areas of study, such as principles of accounting, taxation, cost accounting and advanced accounting applications utilizing microcomputer hardware and software. All of the accounting courses in the Associate’s degree program have either a computerized accounting component or a concurrent computerized accounting course:

  • Computer Applications for accounting with Principles of Accounting I,
  • Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks with Principles of Accounting II,
  • The Bedford Integrated Accounting software with Intermediate Accounting I, and
  • Integrated Accounting for Windows and Peachtree Accounting for Windows with Cost Accounting.
    1. As an Accounting degree graduate, you will enter the business world or baccalaureate study with the capabilities and confidence that you will need for success.

      The growing size and complexity of business has increased the demand for decision makers – for people with management skills. Monroe’s Business Administration program concentrates on the development of your managerial capabilities. You learn to identify and solve problems using management and accounting skills and techniques assisted by computer systems. Graduates are prepared to continue in baccalaureate programs or assume positions at business, real estate, insurance, marketing and financial institutions.
