- The Human Services minor will provide students with the skills required to serve clients in a variety of public outreach organizations. They work alongside social workers, detectives, doctors, and other specialists who help individuals tackle major challenges in their lives. Many human services programs provide intervention for citizens with substance abuse problems or victims of crime or violence.
- Human Services serves individuals and families with low incomes; people with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, or late-onset disabilities; people who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind; parents needing child care services, child support and/or healthcare for their children; and families facing catastrophic medical expenses for their children.
- Human Services is focused on prevention as well as remediation of problems and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life of service populations.
