Health informatics is the integration of computer technology into health care. As a scientific discipline, it deals with the collection, storage, retrieval, communication, and optimal use of health related data information and knowledge. This data is used for health care problem solving and decision making.
Professionals in health informatics play many role in healthcare. They help develop, program, install and manage clinical information systems; maintain and modify clinical information systems at hospitals or clinics; train health professionals to use data collection and decision management software; and provide ongoing customer support.

What are the course requirements for a minor in Health Infomatics?

In addition to all other Health Services Administration degree requirements, the Health Informatics Minor requires successful completion of 21 credits in Health Services and Information Technology courses.
This must consist of:
▪ Four (4) required Health Services and Information Technology Minor courses - 12 credits
▪ Three (3) required Health Services and Information Technology Minor Elective Course - 9 credits
