School of Education

Become a Teacher, Mentor and Difference Maker at the Monroe College School of Education.

Great teachers not only help young people learn, they make a profound, positive impact and change lives. At the Monroe College School of Education, we believe that early childhood education from infancy to second grade is essential for effective, long-term learning. Our Bachelor’s Degree Program in Early Childhood Education strives to develop confident, skilled teachers who will shape the next generation of leaders and thinkers.

Founded in Fall 2011, the Monroe College School of Education prepares students for careers as educators in high needs schools. Our experienced faculty of active and retired teachers, superintendents and education directors bring over 100 years of service to the classroom. They work one-on-one with students helping them grasp the diverse cognitive, cultural, developmental, and linguistic needs of early childhood learners. In addition to exceptional academic instruction, students receive real-world training working with children at local nursery schools, daycare facilities, and special needs schools.

In order to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Monroe College, students must complete 120 credits in courses like Teaching Literacy in Early Childhood, Foundations of Education, and Curriculum Development and Methods in Early Childhood.
