The Honors Board and Faculty

 

The Honors Board is a group of faculty and academic administrators who are dedicated to the advancement of Honors education and charged with the responsibility of realizing the goal of creating a fully-developed Honors Program at Monroe College. 



The role of the Honors Board is to:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for accepting both new and continuing students into the Honors Program


  • Develop and implement policies that support the mission of the Honors Program and ensure its academic integrity


  • Develop and regularly revise all Honors Program materials - Applications, Handbooks, Brochures, Website, etc.


  • Monitor and track the academic progress of students enrolled in the Honors Program


  • Ensure that the courses offered each semester support the students' pursuit of the Honors diploma


  • Engage faculty and Academic Chairs in the planning and teaching of honors courses and in fully participating in the Honors Program


  • Approve and monitor Honors Contracts


  • Assess the outcomes of the Honors Program


  • Sponsor Honors activities including trips, seminars, lectures, film series, colloquia


  • Serve as the College's primary link to the regional and national organizations of National Collegiate Honors Council
