National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) and the Northeast Regional Honors Council (NRHC) Monroe College is a member of both the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) and the Northeast Regional Honors Council (NRHC). The Honors Program believes that students should be given opportunities not only to present at honors conferences but also to work on Joint Honors Projects with other colleges and universities. Since the Monroe honors program was established, students have participated at national and regional honors conferences every year. They have attended national conferences in St. Louis, MO, and Philadelphia, PA (where they made a joint honors project presentation with the University of Maine Honors College, Orono, ME). Also, students have attended regional conferences in West Atlantic City, NJ, Pittsburgh, PA (where they made a joint honors project presentation with the University of Maine at Augusta), and Providence RI (where they made a joint honors presentation with The Richard Stockton College of NJ). Monroe honors students are creating web sites for the NCHC Teaching and Learning Committee and the NCHC Research Committee. The sites were presented at the NCHC national conference in Denver, Colorado in October 2007. Two joint projects are planned for presentation at the National Conference in Denver. If accepted, students involved in these projects will be making their presentations at the conference. Also, there are collaborations planned with several universities to create Joint Honors Projects aimed at regional and national conferences in 2008. In addition, Monroe faculty and administraters have served on NCHC committees and panels and made presentations at both national and regional conferences. |
