Real World Education - Hospitality Management and the Culinary Arts

Monroe hospitality and culinary students graduate with a "can do" attitude.  That's because they haven't only read about how the business of hospitality works or how to prepare food, but they've actually worked in business settings and provided meals for events.

These events include:  the annual Greater NY Wine and Food Festival, a number of trade shows at the Javits Convention Center, the annual Jazz Series in New Rochelle, the US Open (golf), US Open (tennis), and many more events.

Also, the School of Hospitality Management and the Culinary Arts specializes in helping students participate in quality internships that serve the dual purpose of enhancing a resume and providing unmatched on-the-job experience.  The School makes full use of its proximity to some of the world's most well-known restaurants and hotels throughout Westchester County and New York City.

We also feature internships in a number of international venues. Our Study Abroad Program in Italy takes students to Otranto, Parma and Ferrara where they study and practice their craft alongside very accomplished Italian chefs and educators. We also have a large number of students who spend a semester at Disney World in Florida in fast or fine dining settings. We also partner with Sandals Resorts in the southern Caribbean and have internships in St. Lucia – only minutes from our St. Lucia campus.

Our professors and chefs are experienced practitioners in their field.  They augment course work with guest speakers, visits to hotels and restaurants, and interviews with personnel.  These are designed for students who are interested in both front and back-of-the-house applications.
