Delta Chi Chapter at Monroe College On November 11, 2006, Monroe College was formally approved to be a chapter of Alpha Beta Gamma Honor Society, an International Business Honor Society established in 1970 to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students in business curricula. The Monroe College Chapter is formally known as Delta Chi. Students who are invited to join the Society would have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and outstanding campus leadership and service. Besides the honor, recognition, and lifetime distinction of membership, students will be able to include membership on their resumes as well as advance their professional careers through networking and career information. To be eligible for membership students must demonstrate excellent academic achievement as reflected by their GPA and commitment to school and community. The Faculty will formally nominate students during the Wintersemester each year. Alpha Beta Gamma provides leadership opportunities, forums for the exchange of ideas and the stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. It is also a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, and an affiliate member of both the AACC and ACCC. Students who are invited to join the Society will participate at the first inaugural ceremony in Winter 2007 and coinciding with the third induction ceremony for Sigma Beta Delta for Bachelor's students. According to the Chairperson of the Business Administration Department, Prof. Depoo, "honor society membership, like most things in life, does not come easy, and every student should strive to achieve membership." |
