Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) - Version 5 Exam Information

All Applicants interested in Monroe College’s nursing programs must take the ATI Entrance Examination.

The TEAS examis offered on most Fridays and Saturdays at Monroe Collegeat acost of $100. The test takes approximately 3 hours. Candidates who fail this exam may repeat it in six months. For TEAS study material and on-line practical assessment visit atitesting.com.

About the Exam

  • Total time available to test: 209 minutes (3 hours and 29 minutes)
  • Number of multiple-choice questions: 170 Points
  • Reading (Comprehension and inferences/conclusions): 58 minutes/ 48 questions
  • Math (Whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions; decimals, algebraic equations, percentages and ratio/proportions): 51 minutes/ 34 questions
  • Science (Science reasoning and knowledge biology, chemistry anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles and general science): 66 minutes/ 54 questions
  • English and Language (punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words and spelling): 34 minutes/ 34 questions

Registering for the Exam

  1. Go to www.atitesting.com
  2. Click “Register for TEAS” on the on the right of the screen

  3. Select New York for the state and the Bronx for the city.
  4. Choose the time and date you would like to take the TEAS with Monroe College, then select register.
  5. If you are new to ATI click create new account, otherwise log-in with your account information.
  6. Proceed to fill out all of your personal & payment information.
  7. After you have completed registration and paid your registration fee, you will receive a receipt/confirmation email.
  8. THERE IS A NO REFUND POLICY on aTEAS V Registration.

Preparing for the Exam

We suggest students prepare for the TEAS exam in the following ways

  1. Purchase the TEAS review manual Version V, which is available at the Monroe College bookstore and online retailers. Recommended texts - Smith, Sandra F., (2005). NCLEX-PN, NinthEdition. Jones and Bartlett, Sandbury, MA ($39)
  2. TEAS online assessment Version V is available atwww.atitesting.com in the “ATI Product Solutions” section.
  3. TEAS review course.

TEAS Exam FAQ’s

Why do I need to take the exam?

All Applicants to the Monroe College Nursing Program are required to take the TEAS exam.

What is on the TEAS examination?

The TEAS examination is a computer-based multiple-choice assessment which consists of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science and English (language usage).

How do I find out my TEAS results?

Test scores will be available immediately following the test via the internet. After you leave the testing center, you can go to a computer and access your test results through thewww.atitesting.com website.

Can I submit my TEAS results taken at another institution?

Your TEAS scores from another institution are valid as long as it is version V of the TEAS examination. To submit your scores go towww.atitesting.com to download your TEAS report.

How long are my test scores valid?

The TEAS test is valid for one year from the test date.

What is a passing score on the TEAS examination?

The TEAS Exam is not a pass or fail test. Applicants completing the TEAS V need to earn a Proficientor higher score.
