School of Nursing

The Monroe College School of Nursing offers students the opportunity to complete a Practical Nursing Certificate and an Associate (A.A.S.) in Registered Nursing Degree program.  Students may directly enter any one of these programs or complete a unique 1 + 1 program that allows students to finish both programs within two years.

Nursing courses involve classroom instruction as well as laboratory simulation and clinical experiences.  Our curriculum has been developed with a strong cultural awareness component in addition to the demands that a complex healthcare system demand of our modern nurses. Our graduates will be equipped to provide patient-centered, evidence-based practice within an inter-professional team, whose foundation consists of clinical reasoning and critical thinking for patients.  Additionally, our graduates will be able to deal with an increasingly diverse population in the United States.  Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the appropriate NCLEX exam to receive their licensure to practice.

Our Nursing graduates had an 84% passing rate on the NCLEX exams that they took in 2012.

Anyone interested in applying to any of the School of Nursing programs is highly encouraged to attend an Information Sessions every held every Wednesday at 12:00pm and 5:30pm. The information sessions are conducted in King Hall at the Bronx Campus. Please call 646-393-8374 to schedule an appointment.
