A Veteran Friendly College
Monroe College has always been a welcoming, supportive community dedicated to the success of every individual, whatever that individual’s background. It is a compassionate, caring atmosphere that perfectly suits the returning veteran. As a result, Monroe College now has one of the largest veteran populations in the New York area. And the men and women who have enrolled here after their military service have collaborated with our faculty and administration to produce a veteran-friendly environment.
At Monroe, there is a fully staffed, Office of Veterans Affairs. It includes Military Benefits Specialists, Veterans Admission Counselors and a Director of Military and Veterans Affairs. They have been there, done that, and they will make the admissions and financial aid process easy. Plus, they will help you understand the benefits that you have earned as well as any new regulations.
We start by waiving the Admissions Fee for all veterans, but there are many other reasons that make Monroe an ideal place to pursue your educational goals as you’ll see below.
A Real World Education
Since its founding in 1933, Monroe College has emphasized real-world understanding as a key element of a student's academic journey. The college combines innovative academics with a signature internship program, experiential learning and in some cases a study abroad program. Our professors are often working professionals in the areas in which they teach.
This unique learning environment provides students with an education like no other. The incorporation of course work and real-world experience develops students' critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills while introducing them to new perspectives in their fields. As a result, undergraduates and graduates are better prepared for the success in their careers and ultimately, in life.
