Leanna Alexander
Think it, believe it and you can achieve it! These are the words that have guided Leanna Alexander’s over the years. Having been selected as one of the first recipients of Monroe’s West Indies Scholarship Program (WISP) Leanna transferred from Brown’s Town Community College in St. Ann Jamaica in September of 2003.
During her tenure at Monroe, she served as a SIFE presenter and team-member as well as a Public Relations Officer of the International Student Association.
Leanna graduated Summa Cum-Laude with her BBA in Business Management in 2004 and went on to a career in Marketing and Event Coordination at Somnia Inc.
While working at Somnia, Leanna rapidly advanced from an administrative position to playing a key role in the planning and development of medical seminars and business development events for the company’s Anesthesia, Accreditation and Pain Management divisions. She collaborated with staff and executive teams to prepare, implement and analyze client satisfaction surveys and marketing campaigns. She became interested in the field of Human Resources through recruiting events, writing staff biographies and developing training and development programs. She later went on to obtain her MBA with a concentration in Human Resources and a Post Masters certificate in International Business at Iona College.
For the past three years Leanna has worked as a Health and Welfare Benefits Analyst at Aon Hewitt. Within this role she provides subject matter expertise to multiple Fortune 500 clients. Currently a member of the Monroe Alumni Association Board of Directors and the National Black MBA Association, Leanna continues to strive towards career advancement and helping to uplift those around her. |
