Rufo Bird
Rufo Bird is a graduate who has really come full-circle at Monroe College in a classic story of returning to your roots. After earning an Associate degree in accounting in 1992 and a Business Administration Degree in Accounting in 2002, he received his Master of Science in Finance degree at Fairfield University in 2008.
Then he put all of that schooling to use in his alma mater. He now teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Accounting at Monroe, with future plans to also teach International (Global) Finance at the college.
Along the way, Professor Bird has amassed more than seventeen years of diverse accounting and finance experience in all functions of accounting. He has had extensive management level and hands-on experience in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors. In addition to his teaching duties at Monroe, he is currently the Senior Accounting Lead in the Corporate Balance Sheet Department at the IBM Corporation in Somers, N.Y.
It seems success follows Professor Bird wherever he goes. The Chief Accountant at IBM says that he is in the top 1% of all IBM accountants. This month he became the Worldwide Forecast coordinator for IBM Global Financing. He has received the IBM Top Contributor Award and has been an IBM Bravo Award Recipient. Add to that his certification as a Management Accountant (CMA) and Financial Manager (CFM). Next up he is in the process of becoming a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA). |
