Ann Marie Ferguson graduated from Monroe College in 1999 with a BBA in Business Management. She has nineteen yearsof experiencein healthcarepurchasing, having worked for seventeen yearsat NY Presbyterian Hospital andtwo at the NYU Langone Medical Center.
Today she is the Manager of Purchasing Operations and Process Efficiency at the N.Y.U. Medical Center. But that is about to change as Ms. Ferguson, along with five other employees, has been selected to serve as the Medical Center’s “first cadre of lean facilitators.”
Referred to as “black belts,” these so-called lean facilitators will incorporate improvement and efficiency strategies from the corporate world and adapt them to the hospital setting. This operation will focus on streamlining and refining operations process primarily to reduce cost and eliminate waste.
Ann Marie was selected from dozens of applicants from various departments at the hospital. After a year of intensive training and taking classes both online and internationally, Ms Ferguson will soon leave her current position in the Purchasing Department and become a full-time facilitator.
“I attribute part of my recent career growth to the education that I received at Monroe College” she said. “Monroe’s flexible schedule allowed me to work and grow within my profession while obtaining my degree.”
Ann Marie is an active member of the Monroe College Alumni Association board and because she believes strongly in giving back, she participates in a wide range of campus functions. |
