Alum of the Month - NOVEMBER 2009
Johann Mendoza
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” This quote by an ancient Roman philosopher is a message that Johann Mendoza has always lived by. He was the second Monroe College graduate from the New Rochelle campus to apply for and receive the Leslie Robbins Jerome Scholarship for the MBA program at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.
In December, 2006, Johann Mendoza graduated with his BBA in Business Administration with a minor in Hospitality Management. He was part of the Honors Program and worked in the Learning Center as a tutor and teacher’s assistant. He also worked as a Resident Assistant from April 2005 to December 2006. He was the Vice President of the Monroe SIFE team and part of the presentation team that participated in the SIFE National Exposition in 2006.
At the University of Toledo, Mr. Mendoza is completing his MBA in Operations Management and will graduate May 2010. He is currently a graduate assistant to several professors, helping them with critical research for their articles in progress. He's also the treasurer of the International Business Association at the university.
Johann’s advice to students is to get involved in as many activities as possible, as well as to gain experience dealing with people from many different backgrounds.
