Our Alumni Association hosted on Saturday, December 1st our second annual “Time to Hoop it Up” family event at the Meadowlands of New Jersey. An exuberant group of 25 alumni and friends of Monroe traveled to the Izod Center to watch the N.J. Nets defeat the Philadelphia 76ers in an N.B.A. professional basketball game. In addition to connecting with old and new friends, each child of an alum received complimentary Nets basketball jerseys. They witnessed a very exciting game which went into overtime before the Nets finally prevailed. At one point in the first half, the Nets trailed by 18 points, but slowly fought back to take the lead, and then hung on to win in overtime by 2 points. Lead by Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson, and of course Jason Kidd, the home team made it an exciting and entertaining evening. Events like this one give our alumni and their families and friends a chance to meet each other in a friendly social atmosphere and exchange old tales of college days, along with new stories about what they up to today. We welcome your participation at future social gatherings! |
