Monroe College Mustang men's basketball is firmly established as an NJCAA powerhouse. Since the 1991-92 season, the Mustangs have a remarkable .708 winning percentage. In 2002-03, the Mustangs turned on the nation with a high-flying fifth-place finish in the NJCAA Division I national tournament. They won four straight Region XV championships and appeared in three straight District III finals, winning it in 2005-06 and advancing to the Nationals where they finished eighth. Monroe basketball alumni have gone on to star in European professional basketball and the NCAA Division I at University of Houston, Iowa State, St. John's, University of Utah, St. Peter's, Cornell, and LIU.
