How to become a Resident Assistant (RA)?

Becoming a Resident Assistant is one of the most rewarding experiences of a college career. Making the right choices on and off campus can guarantee such an opportunity. Free housing, the opportunity to plan and attend dozens of fun events, programs and trips, and the rewarding experience of working as part of a dynamic team. Resident Assistants undoubtedly reap the rewards of on-campus employment!

The best way to build a resume for the Resident Assistant (RA) job, is to get out there and get involved! That means that attending programs, being visible throughout the residence hall, and showing up to campus events need to become a top priority.

Basic Requirements to become and RA

  • At least 3 semester as a Monroe College housing student.
  • RAs serve as strong academic role models, therefore, a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 is required.
  • Excellent class attendance record.
  • Current or previous involvement in campus Student Life programs
  • No prior infraction(s) of the Residence Life Student Housing Coed.
  • Ability to be a self-motivator and to engage students in community living.
