ITSA Club Past Events

The ITSA club of Monroe college has hosted thre skill workshops:  troubleshooting, web programming and web design. The first workshop was run by Dr.Jacob Boaheng. He offered us insight into basic network troubleshooting and the benefits of being able to independently troubleshoot your own hardware. The workshop was well received among the new and senior members of the ITSA club

We took a trip to a computer show and expo where students learned how to properly estimate the cost of computers and computer parts. The trip was not only an exceptional social event but it was also as great learning experience. This kind of exposure is often needed to keep clients and students alike up to date on industry pricing. Some of the systems that can be built are below. From your standard systems to the expensive and elaborate water cooled units.

The first 3 images are of systems built using a fan cooling system and newer motherboards supporting PCI Express 16x,8x and 4x and a quad core processor. These machines can run at optimal speeds because of their intelligent case design and motherboard architecture. The wiring is moved to the back allowing cool air to flow freely through the system. This is possibly the best thermodynamic setup for heat dissipation. The last system is using a water cooling block very effective at keeping temperatures low but very expensive

Every member of ITSA is grateful for everything they have learned while being in the club. Each new piece of material we learn marks an accomplishment that helps us reach our goal. We invite every Monroe student to participate and offer their skills to help us reach our goals even sooner.
