SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise)

The Monroe College SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) Team gives students the tools to learn the free enterprise system in real working situations. SIFE challenges students to take what they learn in the classroom and use that knowledge to better their communities. For example, they help budding entrepreneurs get their plans off the ground and mentor at-risk students, inspiring them to reach for their dreams.

Also, SIFE helps students launch their own careers.  Because SIFE serves as a bridge from the classroom to the working world, employers realize that SIFE students are an experienced and capable talent pool.

Nationally and Internationally, SIFE is a nonprofit organization that gives students the tools to learn and apply the free enterprise system to community-minded projects. More than 800 college campuses across the United States and 400 campuses internationally operate SIFE teams.

In addition, SIFE gives students the chance to showcase multi-media presentations of their outreach programs to the nation's top business leaders at regional and international expositions. Regional champions are given the opportunity to move on to the ultimate level of competition - the annual SIFE USA National Exposition - where the top-rated SIFE Teams in the world participate in a prestigious and exciting event. Each year, SIFE Teams compete for more than $400,000 in prize money and trophies, not to mention the local and national recognition schools and companies receive.

In 2005 The Monroe College SIFE team was a National Champion.
