Talent Show – July 24, 2008

Monroe College Student Leadership Club and Student Services held a breathtaking talent show on July 24th, 2008. There were 6 participants, Teinelle Philpotts, Tameika Ward, Carmen Padilla, Ci'K Pebbles, Michelle Segura and Steven Williams, who all sang their hearts out to the audience and the panel of judges. The opening act was a tap dance by Che and Company and the Monroe College Hip-Hop Dancers. The grand prize was $200.00 and this went to Steven Williams. Blood Drive – July 2, 2008

Another Blood Drive event was held to help increase the volume of blood at the NY Blood Bank. Monroe College Student Leadership Club is thankful for the 38 students that donated blood.

Heath Issues – July 1, 2008

The Monroe College Student Leadership Club brought various agencies together to discuss health issues. This event brought awareness on breast cancer, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, life insurance and general fitness. The health day event took place in King Hall between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Over 200 students and staff attended the event.

"Go Green Party"- April 24 2008

The end of semester "Go Green Party" was aimed at creating awareness for the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The mainly New Rochelle Campus students who attended all had a blast! The students danced to the tunes of DJ Whutevva until 1:00 a.m.

“Enough is Enough Campaign" - April 5,, 2008

The purpose of the campaign is to protest the commercialization and marketing of negative and derogatory images of black men and women in the entertainment industry.

Voting Survey – March 4-6, 2008

The goal of this event was to examine students' political identification.

‘N’-word Panel – February 21, 2008

This exciting educational activity was designed to create awareness about the word's meaning among the students who use it, while providing an opportunity for open discussion between the students and the panel of speakers. Lollipop Sale – February 14, 2008

The goal of this lollipop sale was to raise funds for the club. Over 120 lollipops were sold.

Blood Drive – February 13, 2008

A blood drive event was held to support the NY Blood Bank. The Monroe College Student Leadership Club is thankful for the 33 students who donated blood.
