Members of the public will notice a great change at the Gordon and Walcott Memorial Methodist School in Castries, St. Lucia. The outer wall has been repainted in a warm tropical color replacing the chipped brown that gave a drab appearance to the entrance of the school. The improved appearance is the work of the Monroe College St. Lucia Alumni Association.
School principal, Ms. Margaret Gabriel, says the repainted wall was the subject of much discussion at the weekly school assembly. “Students and staff were amazed at the changes. We left the wall in a rather unpleasant condition on Friday, and it was so exciting to see the progress made over the weekend.”
The adoption partnership started after the passage of Hurricane Tomas when Monroe administrators met with Ms. Gabriel.
Joshua Vernor, President of the Monroe College Alumni Association acknowledged that the association is committed to doing as much as possible to help the school. |
