On Saturday, June 11, Monroe College President Stephen Jerome conferred more than 2,900 graduate and undergraduate degrees to Monroe graduates during three commencement ceremonies held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.
During his remarks, President Jerome urged the graduates to be passionate in their pursuits and said, “If you are passionate, you will be successful in the things that you are passionate about.”
There were two separate graduation ceremonies for the college’s Bronx campus, and one for the New Rochelle campus, which featured a flag ceremony of twenty-five flags representing some of the countries of origin of Monroe’s increasingly international student body. More than 16,000 people attended the ceremonies.
The keynote speakers at the three graduations were Monroe alum and business executive, Andrew James, New York City Councilman James Vacca, and Senator Allen M Chastanet, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Saint Lucia. |
