“The New Rochelle BID is delighted that Monroe College will turn the lights on at this important facility, dormant for too long, while New Roc City pursues longer-term retail options,” said New Rochelle Business Improvement District President Ralph DiBart. “Monroe’s arena will host sports and special events that will bring thousands of visitors to downtown New Rochelle, strengthening traffic for our restaurants and stores. The BID looks forward to working with Monroe College to develop the arena as an important economic anchor serving the entire community.”
The as-yet unnamed facility at 19 Lecount Place is across the street from the college’s New Rochelle campus, which includes academic buildings, a renowned culinary arts program, and dormitories for 750 students. The college plans to use the facility even while renovations are underway. On January 10, the Lady Mustangs played the first-ever basketball game in the arena, defeating Orange Community College 85-22. Other upcoming events include:
- Media Day-Wednesday, January 26 at 4:30pm
- Alumni Night-Wednesday, January 26 at 6:30pm
- First Doubleheader-Thursday, January 27 at 5:00pm
