Honors Diploma

To earn distinction as an Honors Program graduate, students must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and successfully complete HN 150: The Honors Experience. 

At the Bachelor degree level, a total of 18 honors units are required; 9 units are required at the Associate level.

The diplomas and transcripts of Honors Program graduates bear the symbol of Honors distinction; in addition, graduates of the Honors Program are recognized at commencement. 

Honors courses and Honors sections

Each semester the Honors Board publishes a listing of Honors courses and sections to be offered. 

Honors Courses are offered in two basic forms: 

  •  Multidisciplinary Core Honors Courses

HN 150     The Honors Experience

HN 250     The Evolution of the American Presidency

HN 260     Holocaust, Genocide, & the Human Rights Movement in the 20th Century

HN 350     Comparative Urbanism in the 20th Century

  •  Honors sections of courses in the regular curriculum

e.g. MG 260 Entrepreneurship - Honors

A student earns three Honors Units for completing a three-credit Honors-designated course or Honors section of a course on the following conditions:

  • Successful completion of each course, as determined by final grade
  • Completion of a final exam, paper or project
  • Participation in Honors Colloquium
