Freshmen grants are awarded by the Freshmen Student Financial Services Office when the student first enters the college .

Monroe Tuition Grant (TLC)

Awarded for the institution’s academic year based on remaining need and unique family circumstances.  The average award may range up to $1500 for the award year.  The amount is determined by the appropriate administrator on each campus.  It may be awarded for one, two, or three semesters depending on starting semester and budget limitations.   Students must maintain good academic standing.

Legacy Grant (LEA)

A grant of $500 (if student is full time) awarded to children of Monroe graduates. Students must maintain good academic standing. The grant may be pro-rated for part-time students and continues until the completion of undergraduate studies.

New York Metro Grant (NYM)

Commuter students who have graduated from high school in 2012 and have an estimated family contribution ( EFC) of zero will be eligible for a grant ranging from $1050 to $1450 as funding allows.  The grant will continue until the completion of the Associate Degree or 60 credits if the student is directly admitted to a baccalaureate program. Students must maintain good academic standing.

International Student Grant (ISG)

This grant is for entering international undergraduate students based on combined academic potential and need. The average semester award is $2,000 based on the availability of funds. Students must maintain good academic standing. The grant will continue until the completion of undergraduate studies.

Adult Learning Grant (ADLG)

May be awarded to working, independent  students  (based on federal guidelines) who are at least 21 years of age and have a history of recent employment in 2011.  The award may range from $250 to $750 per semester limited by the remaining balance after all grants and subsidized loans have been subtracted from the cost of tuition and fees.  The grant will last until the completion of the Associate Degree or 60 credits if the student enters directly into the baccalaureate program.  Students must maintain good academic standing.

Monroe Opportunity Grant (MOG) 2012/2013 Award Schedule

Awarded to students recruited from out-of-state areas. A minimum GPA of 70 is required and students must be living in Monroe housing. It may continue for students who were former  dormitory residents, who provide documentation of their off-campus housing to the Student Financial Services office before the start of the semester   Students must maintain good academic standing. The award will remain in effect until the completion of undergraduate  studies. The amount of the award is based on the student’s EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) as calculated on the FAFSA application as follows:

The number of these awards is limited to the annual MOG budget. Students who are first-time Baccalaureate students may also be eligible for this award.  Awards may change each award year based on the student’s EFC.

Monroe Partnership Grant MPG)

A grant of up to 20% of tuition for students who are employed by an organization that has a partnership agreement with Monroe College. The amount of the grant depends on the company’s partnership agreement. It may be pro-rated for less than full-time study. Contact the Admissions Office to determine eligibility. This may be awarded to freshmen as well as continuing students.
