In three separate ceremonies on Thursday, June 5, President Stephen Jerome conferred more than 2,700 college degrees at  the Monroe College 75th Anniversary Commencement.  The keynote addresses were delivered by Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr.,  NY State Education Department Sr. Deputy Commissioner Johanna Duncan-Poitier, and NY City Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott.

On Tuesday, April 22, Monroe College President Stephen J. Jerome, along with elected officials, college administration, faculty, and staff, and community leaders, cut the ribbon on Ustin Hall (YOU-sten), a spectacular 32,000 square-foot building that is the new Bronx campus home to the King Graduate School of Business and the Monroe School of Business.

Inspired by the words of President Stephen Jerome and other Monroe administrators, more than 700 freshmen filled the King Hall gym in two separate sessions on September 4 to launch their college careers.

Making a number of salient points about the crucial role higher education can play in a person's life, President Jerome urged freshman to sieze the opportunity before them.

As New Year's revelers welcomed 2008, the Monroe College community began a year-long toast to 75!  It was seventy-five years ago, in January of 1933 - during the worst part of the Great Depression - that visionary people with the foresight and conviction to follow their instincts created what has become Monroe College.
